Aaaaand we'e back to the world of Pokken Tournament! While my plan was to cover the single player Ferrum League stuff, I've since had a change of heart. To be frank, the mode's not that interesting, and since I won't be doing it for the first time, it loses a little something, you know? That and fighting actual PEOPLE is far more entertaining! So strap in for some random fighting! This is all Ranked Battles, by the way.

Match 1: Blaziken (me) vs. Garchomp (Incursio)
Diggersby Land

Garchomp's a bit of a nemesis for me in just about every single Pokemon-based game I play. In Pokken, Garchomp's a power character. It dashes in to deal huge damage, and even burrows underground! Dig is a huge pain to deal with here. As you see here, it can be easy to block...as long as I'm not hitting a button beforehand. Then there's that aerial dash he has that's quite a pain. I almost never see anyone use it. Overall, he just dishes out huge damage without much effort.

Blaziken's main gimmick involves being able to perform enhanced versions of all of it's special attacks. From Heat Wave and Blaze Kick to Sky Uppercut and Brave Bird, holding the button down does a stronger version...but also takes away health. Combined with Garchomp's big damage...I can die quickly, huh?!

Match 2: Sceptile (me) vs. Braxian (Rept)
Neos City

Here's the trap laying, high speed Sceptile vs. the adorable ranged idol, Braxian! No fair, she has the type advantage! Sceptile's Bullet Seed can lay some nice traps, or be canceled into a few different, moves, but you won't see much of it here.

Braxian is more ranged based, mixing Fire with Psychic with her sense of style to take foes out gracefully. One thing to note here....her super goes full screen near-instantly in Duel Phase, huh?!

Match 3: Pikachu (me) vs. Blaziken (Turtoise Lover)
Old Ferrum Town

This is....just a weird one for me. Never fought a Blaziken like this. Very patient...and apparently Blaziken's up strong attack in Duel Phase is safe on block...to the point that I got totally shut down by him. Kinda scary, really.

As for Pikachu, he's a Standard fighter, and as such is balanced. Pikachu's got decent range options and close-combat, even borrowing some moves from the Mishima's from Tekken! Not enough to stop those kicks though!

Match 4: Braxian (me) vs. Gengar (Guy)
Neos City (Night)

And now the cute fox is on OUR side. But we have to face Gengar....guh....Gengar's scary. A Technical character, Gengar doesn't focus on Power or Speed, but rather chaining its odd special moves together. Genger can become intangible in the air with the block button pressed and many of it's moves cause it to vanish momentarily. It's projectiles move maddeningly slow to trip foes up, and it can be tough to get in on one. But then there's Mega Gengar...

Most Synergy Bursts increase damage slightly and grant armor, but some Pokemon gain new attacks or a follow up to specific attacks. Mega Gengar here gets an entirely new moveset filled with huge full-screen attacks, an UNBLOCKABLE super....ugh. I'm lucky to be alive!

Match 5
Machamp (me) vs. Sceptile (Muffinz)
Tellur Town

Machamp is a Power character, and contrasted with just about every other fighter, he's primarily close-range, with few ranged options. On the slower side, if you let Machamp get some hits on you...you won't like it! It doesn't take much to kill when you've got a Machamp on your side, though Sceptile's traps and speed don't make it easy! Worth noting too, Machamp's got an air grab (which you won't see here) AND his forward special, Submission, is also a grab so he's about the closest thing to a grappler that this game has.

OK, that'll do it for now! These will be done pretty sporadically at least for now, so enjoy them when they come up!
