Sea of Stars - Ch. 30 - On Borrowed Time
Phew! That last chapter. Should we talk about it? Let's see, well... Our boy, Garl certainly can't catch a break. He's almost died like three times now. And even now he's quite literally on borrowed time. Which brings us to today's chapter. Might as well jump in.
CHAPTER 30 - ON BORROWED TIME
I'm guessing this chapter technically starts as soon as Zale flies off with Garl and Valere flies off soon after them. You land in the area where you met the Eldermist. Garl was injured by the Fleshmancer and since he has no innate magic to protect him, it is certain that he will die.
Garl receives a vision of what the party must now do. It appears to be very clear to him and he curses the he will die before he can help his friends figure it out. He then remembers the prophecy that the Oracle of Tides gave him and asks Resh'an for a 'Vial of Borrowed Time'.
The magical item does not prevent Garl from dying, it only extends his life until he completes his goal. It's most effective when the person using it has a clear goal in mind. If Garl stops working towards completing his goal however, the magic will instantly expire. Trying to complete the goal will extend his life as long as possible.
Ok, so all of that happened last chapter, which is a real shame, as they are really the only scenes relevant to the name of the chapter. The video actually starts here. So in order to not have another five minute video I'll cross off a couple of neglected items.
1) How to find the Fisherman for Mirth
Currently, we're on the world map next to Y'eet. Head down to Mooncradle via the Forbidden Cavern. You'll find the Fisherman in the tavern. Now the Fishing Hut in Mirth will be open. The lake there will be stocked with random fish you've caught at other lakes and ponds. Plus, you'll receive upgrades depending on how many fish you've caught. We'll come back to that eventually...
Additionally, while we're here... There are two Rainbow Conches available and an antique item hidden by the Celestial Willow Tree.
2) Light Puzzle in the 'Jungle Path'
Now that we're done in Mooncradle, head back up to Y'eet and have him hurl you at Khukharr. He'll spit out the Vespertine, which saves us a little time. Head down to Watch Island and enter the Jungle Path.
There was a puzzle here that we couldn't solve before because we lacked the Solstice Amulet. It involves using the Chronical Rune to activate a light beam. You'll also have to use the Mistral Bracelet to change the position of three mirrors. Lastly, you'll have to activate both sides of the Chronical Rune to also raise the poles with the mirrors.
If done correctly, it will open a room where you'll find the 'Lucent Crystal'. This is a neat trinket which generates an extra boost charge of live mana when you initiate combat via attack. I almost always try to do this, so it will be very sweet to have two boosts instead of one.
Additionally, if you make your way around this room, you'll find an exit which leads to another Rainbow Conch.
3) Resume game...
Ok, since we're nearby anyway, we'll head to the islands marked on our map. The actual target is the northern island, however it's inaccessible. Only the southern island has a dock. When you arrive, Valere will fulfill her prophecy and be the one who "creates paths on the water".
She "mends the connection" between the islands by creating a water bridge. You'll now walk over to the northern island and some sort of transporter will take you to the skies...
You'll arrive in an area that looks much like the kingdom of Zeal from 'Chrono Trigger'. But for now, we're going to take a break. To add a little extra content, I have Teaks read us the story made from the 'Celestial Willow Leaf', entitled 'Mooncradle'.
Join us next time for Chapter 31 - 'The Kingdom in the Clouds'.
