A new video in our channel, I recently bought this game not too long ago as we're coming reasonably close to having all the U.S. and (noteworthy) Japanese releases and we're looking for some really odd titles. It turned out that Second Samurai, the successor to First Samurai that I played on the SNES, was released for the Gen/MD but only in PAL territories.

I fired up the game and it seems to interestingly work on my NTSC system, so I made a video for it. Second Samurai is a pretty neat game worth importing/buying if you're into having as many action titles for the system as possible (as if there weren't enough already) and is a funky port of the Amiga game. Interestingly, the game was programmed and designed by Raffaele Cecco, who was also involved with such "award-winning" titles as Stormlord and Deliverance: Stormlord II.

The game is a pretty basic side-scroller that can be played with a friend (who will control a female samurai who specializes in hand-to-hand combat but has less range than the male) where you grab a few main power-ups and fight evil in three different settings. The game's draw is its countless dangers, with cheap enemies and obstacles coming from all directions, and its awesome soundtrack and clean visuals. The Demon King is back and just as comical as before, taunting you when you die with statements like "You Wimp!" and "Give Up Mortal!". At first, you may die a lot, but this game isn't "so" hard that the game should be set to Easy by default. The bosses are also a little disappointing.

This video shows the first level. Enjoy.
