Self-Hosting ServiceStack as a Daemon on Linux
Running ServiceStack as a daemon on Linux with Mono is surprisingly simple and cuts out ASP.Net and other hosting issues out of the equation entirely.
Keep in mind that if you want to publicly expose your services, you will still want (need) to secure them using SSL, and you'll need either Nginx or Apache for that.
ASP.Net isn't a hard requirement for ServiceStack, and ServiceStack itself can run as a Windows service on Windows as well. And since MacOS (OSX) is a POSIX operating system, the steps in this video should apply to any supported version of MacOS.
Whilst Mono is slowing being replaced by NET Core, this particular solution is implemented in Mono and the NET Core steps are different and do not directly translate from one framework to the other.
