My first encounter with this lovely little dungeon crawler was with my best friend who had just recently got the game at a yard sale that day along with several others. I was quite excited to try it out but was sort of discouraged from doing so. His explanation was "you just die...whatever move you make or action you do you just die..and horribly so. Its just a pain...lets' play Gauntlet instead". I did see him play it that day eventually (after several hours of Gauntlet 1 I will add) and he was very right. All we did was die..and die horribly. So much so it became kind of a running joke about how much we die and with all the varieties of how to die (burned to a crisp by dragon fire, melted by acid etc.) it just became comical to us. And so it stayed that way for many year. I knew my buddy would occasionally try to play the game and understand on how to progress in it with varying results. Some days he'd get really lucky and figure something out but others not so much. I ended up giving him an old copy of the Worlds Of Power book "Before Shadowgate" that I had since it had a small advertisement on the cover that offered hints and tips on how to progress through the game and I didn't own a copy of the game yet either. Well over the course of an afternoon right before Xmas (we were all home for the holidays whether it be from school/work etc.) me and him were bored of the usual games and one of us suggested about maybe giving this one another go. Well over the next couple hours we were almost done the game to our major surprise. The little book with its hints certainly worked in spots but most of it was us just using trial and error and putting our heads together. When we finally beat it we were ecstatic! It was one of the last few NES games that my buddy had that he had not finished and was a "bucket list game" in a sense. Afterwards I went home and since I owned a copy of the game by this point as well, I decided that while it was all fresh in my head I would do my own run through of the game...and maybe it'll make a good playthrough too. So this video is my one and only try of it and I'm glad it only took one try to play and record it as well since that doesn't happen too often. Overall, its a good spooky little dungeon crawler/puzzle game. Not a lot of replay value once you know what to do but its overall not a bad game at all and certainly worth a try/picking up if you find a cheap copy. Shouldn't be hard either since they seem to cheap and plentiful. Its solid. This was done on my actual cartridge as well.

Hope You Enjoy!
