I first encountered this game probably back in the mid to late 90's (hard to remember now) right when I first got introduced to Ghostbusters through the cartoon and then the movies not long afterwards. Discovering Ghostbusters was almost like a small awakening in a way since was one of those defining movies that was like "wow where has this been my whole life" type things and I was instantly in love with it from then on. And discovering that one my neighbor's who had a grandson who I played with quite frequently whenever he was over, possessed a large and impressive NES game collection since not only did her grandson enjoy playing them, her and her husband enjoyed playing several games together (Bubble Bobble was their favorite if I remember correctly). Our good friend Tristen had very cool and super nice grandparents to say the very least. And there was a lot of games that I played for the first time there, like Legend Of Zelda, Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, Bubble Bobble, Wrath Of The Black Manta and of course this one. I instantly gravitated towards it and was deeply intrigued by it since at that point I had not yet seen the second movie. I was also equally shocked by how difficult and unforgiving it was. That would kind of stay that way from then on. Having scored myself a copy of it years later in my late teens, I was hellbent and determined to finally beat this game...no matter what the cost to my sanity would be. And the cost was a HEAVY ONE INDEED. To quote the movie it was like "being sucked down into the 10th level of hell" and I find that is a pretty accurate statement at times. Not having an actual health bar, awkward controls, the damn driving levels, the Statue Of Liberty levels (2 levels was SERIOUSLY uncalled for) was enough to turn me into a stark-raving mad lunatic but then having to do the last level 4 times over with each Ghostbuster..... only to have no boss fight and a lousy ending proved to be a torturous experience of such epic magnitude that it stands as one of the all-time HARDEST final levels and ultimately one of the HARDEST games on the NES that I can think of. Now do I hate the game? No I don't.....and by all logical reason I should too. Its controls aren't great and the unfair difficulty essentially hampers the whole game, yet for some masochistic reason I still find myself returning to this game every so often. I think the reason is that its a much better game then the first Ghostbusters game on NES, its a nostalgic favorite in a weird way and that after a little while I get accustomed to the game and its eccentricities. My only real complaint nowadays (aside from the legendary difficulty) is that we were stuck with this Ghostbusters II game instead of the other game that Europe got, which is a damn right shame since it absolutely cooks as a licensed 2-player game and is a great representation of the movie. All in all, this is NOT a game for the faint of heart and easily frustrated. Only the most patient, tough and dedicated will probably see it through to the end and beat it. If you find a copy for a cheap-to-reasonable price I would say get it, but you've been fairly warned!

Hope You Enjoy!

(This playthrough was done off my actual cartridge, NOT an emulator.)
