Golden Axe Playthrough (SEGA GENESIS/MEGA DRIVE)
3My first encounter with this game was at my uncle's house way back in the mid 90's and I remember being totally fascinated by it as he my cousin played it together. He would play as the dwarf character Gilus Thunderhead and my cousin would play as the Amazonian character Tyrus Flare since she thought that she was a cool character with cool magic. She wasn't wrong either. While we could never get very far like my uncle could we loved playing this game together nonetheless and Gilus Thunderhead ended up being my favorite character to play as and he still is to this day funny enough. So naturally having a Sega of my own not long afterwards, I wanted my own copy too. And I was lucky and got one too! Loved marathoning it on the weekends whether it be with friends or on my own. And then my younger brother lost it and I never saw it again....until almost 10 yrs later I snagged another copy for like $20 which either way I wasn't going to say no anyways. And by then I was a much better gamer so I set aside an afternoon and went to work and beat it since it becomes a very TOUGH game near the end with some rather unforgiving jumps and swarms of enemies. I felt like I got closure though when I finally beat it. Maybe because it was easily one of my top 5 Sega games ever and then losing it for so long and not having a chance to pick up where I left off with it and beat it really left a little void in my gaming soul funny enough but having found it again and beating it finally it felt like Sega Genesis gaming could move on lol! I play the game now and it's an instant reminder of many happy memories of childhood and such; it's still one of my top 5 games on the console to this day and easily my favorite beat'em up on the system without question. While it may not be perfect, this console classic is certainly perfect enough for me and my friends any day. Pick up a copy if you find it since its a great one for the collection! Hope You Enjoy!
