Shenmue III was released for the PS4 and PC in late 2019 almost 2 decades after part two! Honestly there's a lot of history behind the funding and development of this game and I don't really know all the details.

The game runs on the Unreal Engine 4 and offers up some really good looking graphics at the best of times if mediocre at the worst. Overall it's a good looking game but it does suffer from some bad facial expression animations in many of the NPC's. The game also suffers from fairly moderate stutter and bad pop in of NPC's sometimes not showing up on screen until you're standing right in front of them! None of this makes the game unplayable. It also loses all ties with Sega IP so no more Afterburner, Outrun or Space Harrier in the Arcades.

Thing is for everything this game does wrong, it does something else right. It's still a Shenmue game and it has that same charm. The controls are also the best we've ever had in a Shenmue game thanks to modern dual analog sticks!

So just like Shenmue II if you liked the first Shenmue game you'll probably like this one and if you hated Shenmue, you'll hate this one too! I liked it almost as much as the second one myself.
