Guide for Shun'ei's basic tools and combos to get you started playing The King of Fighters XIV. These combos may not be optimized, but range from beginner to intermediate in difficulty and should give you a head start in learning this character. Feedback and questions are welcome!

Please refrain from character requests. I will create a guide for the entire cast, but I will go at my own pace. Please understand.

God this took awhile.

So when it came to Shun'ei's MAX mode combos, trying to find optimal but also practical combos was a bit of a nightmare. If you factor in his qcb AC, then his combos get very screen-position specific, and trying to create a list of must know combos in MAX mode was an ordeal. Hopefully what I show you makes sense and helps you with your game.

Shun'ei has a couple of tricky parts in most of his combos. Cancelling his qcb P into qcfx2 K or P can be a little tricky; remember you have more time than you think. More importantly is his air qcf A; in order to be able to do the combos you see after that move, you have to cancel the f. B as late as possible, so Shun'ei lands faster. It'll take some practice, but if you're going to play this character, you definitely should practice it until it's second nature.

Bracket damage is based off a cl. D xx MAX starter.

K = Kick
A = Light Punch (Square)
B = Light Kick (X)
C = Heavy Punch (Triangle)
D = Heavy Kick (Circle)
st. = standing
cl. = close
cr. = crouching
j. = jumping
b, d, f = back, down, forward respectively
[n] = hold n direction for at least half a second
qcf = quarter circle forward (d, df, f)
qcb = quarter circle back (d, db, b)
hcf = half circle forward (b, db, d, df, f)
hcb = half circle back (f, df, d, db, b)
dp = dragon punch (f, d, df)
rdp = reverse dragon punch (b, d, db)
xx = cancel
arrow = do immediately after unless specified
- = follow up
(n) = cancel after nth hit of the move
