Skip the Serpent boss in StarTropics II using the Void Jump - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
In Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II for the NES there's a semi-complicated technique called the Void Jump. It's basically a glitch that will sometimes allow you to jump off the surface of water or while standing on a pitfall. Using this technique, you can skip some of the game's bosses. In this example, I use the Void Jump to skip the Skeleton C-Serpent boss.
Note that this technique is often called the Void Walk or simply the Void or Voiding.
In Chapter 9, Mike returns to C-Island and enters the dungeon that eventually leads him to the final boss, Zoda. A good portion of the dungeon is identical to the first dungeon in the original StarTropics game. In fact, even the music is similar. You also fight a skeletal version of the C-Serpent, who is the first boss of the original StarTopics. You can abuse glitches to skip this boss in BOTH games, but in StarTropics II it's a little harder.
To skip the serpent boss in StarTropics II, head to the left platform as soon as you enter the boss room. Stand still at the very upper right corner of this platform.
As soon as you take damage, buffer a jump up and to the right. If you buffered the jump properly, Mike Jones will jump on his first actionable frame after taking damage. Now hold up and right, then curve to the right to land just to the right of the snake's open mouth. If you landed on the right spot, you should take damage while standing on the surface of the water. After than, simply jump up to the top platform and congratulations, you have used the Void Jump to skip the serpent boss!
Note that inputs in this game can be buffered. In this example, you should press and hold the A button plus Up and Right as Mike is stunned from taking damage from the serpent's laser breath thing. This will allow Mike to jump on the very first frame that you regain control of him.
Anyway, the positioning for the landing is tricky, so just use the video for reference.
This trick can be used to skip a few StarTropics 2 bosses, and this is just one example.
