Power Attack Cancelling in Legend of Mana (Playstation) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
In Legend of Mana, there's a super simple way to cancel the recovery frames associated with most Power Attacks.
Normally after using a Power Attack, your character will be stuck in an ending animation (or will simply pause for a bit) rendering him/her unable to move for a second or two after the attack. However, if you have an unmapped ST/Magic button, you can use this button to "cancel" the ending animation or recovery frames on your Power Attack.
In this example, I removed all techniques from the R button. After using a Power Attack, I pressed the R button and was immediately able to move after my Power Attack, and therefore, I was able to chain up a string of Power Attacks much faster than is normally possible. This is awesome for speedrunning.
Note that this Power Attack Cancelling technique can be used with an L or R button even if it is mapped to a Special Technique, but obviously you will launch the Special Technique instead if your ST meter is full. So having an unmapped button is more reliable for Power Attack Canceling.
This technique works for the Playstation version as well as the remastered Nintendo Switch version. Are there other versions? Idk.
Oh look this same technique was used in a speedrun by Quatropus in RPG Limit Break - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40BSBInAm0k
Sometimes this trick is called Power Canceling, and I found an explanation for it on Speed Demos Archive - https://kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Legend_of_Mana/Mechanics#Power_Canceling

What are some other weird tricks in old games you know about? I want to make more of these quick shorts, so leave a comment to suggest more glitches, Easter Eggs, and weird things!
