[Beautiful Iceland Series Part Eleven]
* Sadly this is the finale... for now... until I get the opportunity to go back out to Iceland anyways! It is a wonderful place to visit and I would recommend everyone, especially nature lovers, to go and take a tour around the island! its been fantastic showing you these sights and I hope it inspires you to visit such a beautiful and rural country! Skorradalsvatn is a lake in the west of Iceland. It is situated in a narrow valley between the Hvalfjörður and the valley of Reykholtsdalur. Its length is about 9.3 Miles (15 km). Around the lake there are some high mountains, like Skarðsheiði. Unusually for Iceland, the shores of the lake are quite forested due to reforestation started by a governmental initiative. Consequently, the valley looks a bit like some regions in the Alps, for example near Salzburg in Austria and doesn't have a natural Iceland look but is still extremely beautiful. The lake is also a reservoir, maning the level of the surface of the water has been lifted. There are no villages on the shores, but a few summer houses and is a place away from nature.
Skorradalshreppur is a municipality in the west of Iceland which has an area size of 134.2 Miles² (216 km²).
