Previously, Davilas began the Dark Brotherhood quest line with the quests "Delayed Burial", "Innocence Lost", and "With Friends Like These...". Now, in the next primary quest, "Sanctuary", he will meet his new "Family" and get his first set of contracts.

After resuming, Davilas heads farther into the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, where he meets his charming new "Family". Then, he speaks with Nazir. Nazir issues three contract quests: "Contract: Kill Narfi", "Contract: Kill Ennodius Papius", and "Contract: Kill Beitild". This concludes the quest "Sanctuary". Nazir has information about each target.

Also, there is a Word Wall in the Sanctuary. Davilas learns "Suffer", the third word of "Marked for Death" and "Drain Vitality".

For "Contract: Kill Narfi", Davilas fast-travels to Ivarstead. It is a good idea to save before killing these targets, lest someone else notice. It is best to kill Narfi while he is picking at the ore behind his house or while he is asleep at home.

For "Contract: Kill Ennodius Papius", Davilas fast-travels to Anga's Mill west of Windhelm. At night, Ennodius sleeps in a tent well outside Anga's Mill. It is easiest to kill him there.

For "Contract: Kill Beitild", Davilas fast-travels to Dawnstar. It is best to kill Beitild when she goes home alone to go to sleep. She lives alone in Beitild's House.

When the wet work is done, Davilas fast-travels back to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. There, he finds that Cicero has arrived with his "mother". He was actually transporting the Night Mother. After a tense conversation amongst the Dark Brotherhood, Astrid speaks to Davilas. She issues the quest "Mourning Never Comes". Davilas must fulfill a contract for Muiri at the alchemy shop in Markarth.

Davilas also chats with Cicero. It sounds like Cyrodiil is in even worse shape than Skyrim. Anyway, Cicero explains why he has come and who the Night Mother is.

Then, Davilas reports to Nazir to conclude "Contract: Kill Narfi", "Contract: Kill Ennodius Papius", and "Contract: Kill Beitild". Nazir will pay a reasonable sum for each contract.

For "Mourning Never Comes", Davilas fast-travels to Markarth. He finds Muiri, the alchemy shop assistant, in the inn. When he talks to her, she asks him to kill Alain Dufont in Raldbthar. However, Davilas explains that he has already taken out Dufont, so Muiri pays him right away. If Dufont were still alive, Muiri would also have issued an optional objective to kill Nilsine Shatter-Shield.

Davilas fast-travels back to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary and reports to Astrid. "Mourning Never Comes" complete!

Astrid next issues "Whispers in the Dark". She is concerned that Cicero is conspiring with another member of the Dark Brotherhood. She wants Davilas to eavesdrop on Cicero by hiding in the Night Mother's coffin.

Davilas lockpicks his way into the Night Mother's Coffin and hides himself inside. When Cicero arrives and starts muttering to the Night Mother in futility, the Night Mother speaks to Davilas! It turns out Davilas is the Listener. The Night Mother wants Davilas to journey to Volunruud and speak with Amaund Motierre.

Afterwards, Davilas explains things to Cicero and Astrid. Astrid is not keen for Davilas to take orders from the Night Mother. She tells Davilas to seek more work from Nazir.

Then, Davilas speaks with Nazir. Nazir issues a couple more contracts: "Contract: Kill Hern" and "Contract: Kill Lurbuk". Hern is a vampire living at Half-Moon Mill near Falkreath. Lurbuk is a supposedly terrible bard at the inn in Morthal. This concludes "Whispers in the Dark".

Then, Davilas fast-travels home to Lakeview Manor to take care of some more inventory issues. Next time, he will take care of Nazir's latest contracts and then continue the Dark Brotherhood quest line.
