Previously, Davilas did the Dark Brotherhood quests "Recipe for Disaster", "To Kill an Empire", and "Death Incarnate". Now, he will wrap up the main quests of the Dark Brotherhood quest line with "Hail Sithis!"

After resuming in Whiterun, Davilas goes to the Bannered Mare and speaks to Amaund Motierre, who originally issued the contract on Emperor Titus Mede II. Amaund is surprised not only that Davilas is still alive but also that the Dark Brotherhood will continue to honor the contract. The Emperor is aboard his ship, the Katariah, in the Solitude Inlet. The Katariah's location now appears on the map. Also, if Davilas asks about Commander Maro, Amaund reveals that Maro is at the Solitude Docks. This reveals an optional objective to take care of Commander Maro.

Davilas fast-travels to the East Empire Company Warehouse near Solitude. When he approaches Maro, Maro turns hostile and attacks, so Davilas can kill him in self-defense without incurring a bounty.

Afterwards, Davilas heads to the Katariah. When he approaches the Katariah, he enters the ship by examining the anchor line. Once he is aboard, the objective is to kill the Emperor. There are several Sailors and Penitus Oculatus Agents aboard. A couple of named individuals, Captain Avidius and Lieutenant Salvarus, each have a Katariah Master Key.

Eventually, Davilas finds the Emperor's Quarters. Without the Katariah Master Key, Davilas would need to pick a Master-level lock to open the door. There, he has a brief chat with Emperor Titus Mede II. Though His Majesty is resigned to his fate, he asks that Davilas also deal with the person who made this request.

Davilas takes out the Emperor. After this, the objective is to report to Amaund Motierre. There are several goodies scattered around the Emperor's quarters.

Out on the deck of the Katariah, Davilas also finds something at the end of the bowsprit, the slanted mast at the prow: the Windshear sword.

Davilas fast-travels back to Windhelm. There, he reports to Amaund Motierre in the Bannered Mare. Amaund reveals that the payment is where Davilas initially met him in Volunruud. However, he is not expecting Davilas to betray him according to the optional objective!

Afterwards, Davilas fast-travels to Volunruud. In the room where he initially met Amaund Motierre, he finds the payment in an urn: 20,000 gold! Cor blimey! The player earns the silver trophy "Golden Touch" for having 100,000 gold in one's possession. Now, Davilas must report to Nazir.

Davilas fast-travels to Dawnstar Sanctuary near Dawnstar. There, he reports to Nazir. "Hail Sithis!" complete! The player earns the silver trophy "Hail Sithis!" for completing this quest. This concludes the primary Dark Brotherhood quest line.

Nazir also issues the quest "Where You Hang Your Enemy's Head...". He wants Davilas to visit Delvin Mallory at the Ragged Flagon in Riften and see how he can help refit the Dawnstar Sanctuary.

The Night Mother also speaks to Davilas. She issues a repeatable quest, "The Dark Brotherhood Forever". Each of these quests involves speaking to a random client, who will ask Davilas to take out a random target. This first client is the Wary Outlaw at the Bee and Barb in Riften.

When Davilas goes outside, he runs into Cicero. After having a little practical joke, Cicero makes himself available as a follower. Fine and dandy.

Davilas fast-travels to the Thieves Guild in Riften. In the Ragged Flagon, he talks to Delvin Mallory again. Delvin will contract out repairs to Dawnstar Sanctuary. He offers the following improvements: new banners for 1,000 gold, a poisoner's nook for 5,000 gold, a torture chamber for 5,000 gold, a secret entrance for 5,000 gold, and a master bedroom for 3,000 gold. In total, this comes up to 19,000 gold, which Amaund's reward should cover. Davilas talks to Delvin one last time to wrap up the quest. "Where You Hang Your Enemy's Head..." complete!

Then, at the Bee and Barb in Riften, Davilas talks to the Wary Outlaw. The Wary Outlaw asks Davilas to take out the Big Laborer at Katla's Farm near Solitude. He pays Davilas ahead of time.

Davilas fast-travels to Katla's Farm outside of Solitude. The Big Laborer there is easy enough to take out at night without incurring a bounty. "The Dark Brotherhood Forever" complete!
