Introduction
King Grandor 33 of Grandor, hearing a cursed prophecy from the magician Marl, is so frightened that he kills Marl. Driven mad, the king also kills his queen and nearly kills his own child.
Then, the Kingdom of Grandor falls, and the new nation of Northhorn is founded. Days of peace have finally arrived. However, those days are shattered by intelligence from a scout sent by King Kruga of Northhorn. It was said that there were disturbing developments in the neighboring country of Arghanistan.
The country of Arghanistan gained independence at the same time as Northhorn. The Order of the Black Knights continues its rapid advance with unstoppable momentum. At the command of this order is the hated prince, known as the Cursed Child.
Similar to Nintendo's Pokémon, this is a training-based competitive role-playing game in which players train their characters and progress through the game, then pit their characters against characters trained by other players. It is classified as a tower defense game. Developed by Feathered and Halloween, the game was programmed by Takami Utsuaki, who worked on the PlayStation game GUILTY GEAR (1998), the music was by Adachi Minako, who worked on the PlayStation game Summon Night (2000), and the character designs were by illustrator Otsuki Bell.
The project was planned in collaboration with the boys' manga magazine Monthly Shonen Gangan, and a spin-off manga was published in the magazine's May through August 2000 issues. The developers also solicited ideas for characters, monsters, and items from readers, ultimately receiving over 20,000 postcards. Of these, 54 ideas were selected and actually appeared in the game. The summoned monsters, similar to the Trapper and Wild Half guardians described below, and the NPCs that appear in the dungeon bar were all chosen from readers.
