Sol Divide - Sword of Darkness Arcade
24Set against a medieval fantasy backdrop, Sol Divide is a 2D side-scrolling shooter with beat 'em up melee that pits one or two players against a horde of flying enemies. The game uses three buttons one for shooting, one for a close range attack, pressing both the shoot and melee buttons simultaneously will use spells.
There are three different characters that can be played as, each with their own weapon and fighting style. Various magic scrolls can be found by defeating enemies which allow the player to cast several different types of spells including lightning and fire. Each character has their own combo and unique spell:
Dark Knight "Vorg".
Unique command: Slash --- Slash --- Slash upward --- Slash.
Unique spell: Nightmare.
Wing Lancer "Kashon".
Unique command: Slash --- Slash --- Slash downward ----Slash.
Unique spell: Phoenix.
Great Mage "Tyora".
Unique command: Slash --- Slash --- Slash to right --- Slash.
Unique spell: Sammon.
The story itself concerns an evil being who sets out looking for a Power Stone and cuts down all in his path with his sword, the Sol Divide.
Kashon is a blue skinned hawkman and Prince of Neraphai. Once Neraphai was conquered, he was the only hawkman strong enough to fight. Kashon is just as good at close combat as he is with long-range attacks, largely thanks to his gigantic spear, and is the most balanced character.
The game has six stages then gets longer and harder the more you play, with the final one being basically a boss rush stage.
Defeating normal enemies rewards the player with different items to help them on their journey, including the aforementioned magic scrolls, healing potions, magic bottles. Players can also recover or increase their life bars or power up their shooting weapon.
Magic consume the mana bar (under the life bar) the will slowly recover by itself, but it can also be recovered by shooting enemies or do melee combos.
