Splash Hill Zone is really just Green Hill Zone with a fresh coat of paint. It's not an exact copy but it is the same in a lot of ways. It does feel very simple like the first Sonic for the Sega Genesis but with the addition of the homing attack which is necessary for taking some alternate routes through the levels. The details are mostly fine but the grass looks like plastic which I don't like seeing, however the checkered walls look just fine even though they also look like plastic. Aside from the neat yet unoriginal look of the level, there are no big flashy gimmicks in Splash Hill. It's a short and simple dash from start to finish with nothing going on beyond stomping the badniks that arrived from Green Hill.
