Sonic Heroes: Team Chaotix Part 1: Seaside Hill
Team Chaotix is the 4th and final team in this game. They are also the most unique team to play, and not just because they're the only team with any mammals, let alone a hedgehog.
Their difficulty is similar to using Team Sonic, but their own unique gimmick in this game is how every stage they go through gives them a specific mission. Most of these missions will involve collecting a certain number of things, while others are just getting through the whole stage as usual.
I had originally thought that this game was their debut, but that was before I knew about Knuckles' Chaotix. Regardless, Heroes retcons the Chaotix as debuting in this game, Yuji Uekawa redesign and all.
----------
Team Chaotix is a detective agency that solves mysteries and bust crimes... for a worthy price, of course; they REALLY need that pay.
Their leader, Vector the Crocodile, was jamming out to some rockin' tunes, his team's own theme song, actually. Meanwhile, his best (and only) ninja, Espio the Chameleon, stood silently in the shadows.
Then suddenly, their youngest and loudest member, Charmy Bee, came crashing through the room with new mail. Apparently the team just got new work, and the work came with a walkie-talkie.
The client that sent this walkie-talkie to Chaotix promised to pay the team handsomely if they followed his orders. Vector and Charmy couldn't miss the opportunity to get paid, because their policy won't let them turn that down. Espio, on the other hand, was concerned about this working for this mysterious client...
Either way, Team Chaotix were now on the case!
----------
As I said above, all of Team Chaotix's gameplay is focused more on accomplishing missions rather than just getting through a whole stage (though that still comes back occasionally). In Challenge Mode, each non-boss stage will have a second, harder version of the stage's original mission.
For now, Seaside Hill will have you collect 10 hermit crabs. You can pick them up in any order you want, just at long as you hit 10.
Now for gameplay, Team Chaotix plays most similarly to Team Rose, especially with how Vector is controlled for Power Formation, though his leveled up Fire Combination functions more like Omega's. Even then, this team has some unique quirks and abilities that no other team has for themselves.
Espio's tornado attack is the Leaf Swirl. It turns him invisible so that no enemies can see him, and neither can Vector nor Charmy. You'll need this for certain missions later. Espio also has an even better Triangle Jump than Sonic and Shadow, because he can cling to walls for as long as he wants.
There will be metal flowers everywhere that Charmy opens by stinging them with his tail. These flowers can store Item Boxes, but moreover they can be used as teleporters. Most of Team Chaotix's missions don't involve reaching a Goal Ring, so often there will be a metal flower in or near its place that will warp Team Chaotix back to their start to find any missing objectives.
----------
Team Chaotix's Team Blast is Chaotix Recital, where they all form a band and play their own instruments... poorly. VERRRRY poorly. Vector's loud singing on the mic is what kills any nearby robots!
Each kill with this Team Blast grants Rings of 5, 10, or 20. While the Team Gauge is draining out, you can get further Ring bonuses from killing more enemies, and THESE will contribute to refilling the gauge, meaning you can possibly fire off a SECOND Chaotix Recital after the cooldown has finished!
As soon as all objectives have been met, the stage will be cleared. Also, this team almost ALWAYS start their levels by falling from the sky. Not sure why.
