Sonic Map Dev - Space Colony Ark Day 005 - Redone Handplaced Greebles for Performance
After a first attempt at quickly running some scatter in engine and trying to merge a crap ton of Greeble buildings meshes down I soon ran into a performance bottle neck. For render generally one would not care about that stuff but I want to shoot my shorts freely and have the GPU be as unhinged as it possibly can so my old system can even attempt to capture at upressed 2 and 4K. It will take forever to do and barely make it on staggerinly unoptimized assets so basically I reworked the greebles to try and get my editors general performance back to a GPU profile ms delay of sub 20-24ms (which would land me at or around 50-55s ish FPS as long as Shadow is not moving around too much, furry self). Its annoying but if I plan to shoot many things from this scene over time may as well make it performant.
I have absolutely no time to create this scale of a world form scratch so I def will be kit bashing this thing together like crazy. Stick around and skip around if interested in any particular portions, I dont post edit or bookmark sessions cause I dont have time.
