Sonic Map Dev - Space Colony Ark Day 006 - Adding Craterous Exterior Insert Meshes
Todays session was simply taking some nice for 3D print STLs and converting them to bake mesh for placement around the exterior of the Ark to have it better resemble a more high def version of that celestial body its trying to emulate lol, the moon. Also added my own world position offset shader to a tiling texture set to give the false moons surface some physical looking bump and height variation. There session is long due to a lot of trial and error/software crashes but I have once again learned my lesson, auto generative stuff like Mash in maya is functional but not all that good. Unreal plugin scatter also is the same, too many overlapped resued things and looked bad. Im on 5.2 because its more stable for what I have for the CC4 actors so I dont have access to PCG pipeline therefore anytime something needs to look generated its better for me to just manually place it outright. I had to for the greebles and now I had to again for the craters lol. So much wasted time, oh well lessons learned.
I have absolutely no time to create this scale of a world form scratch so I def will be kit bashing this thing together like crazy. Stick around and skip around if interested in any particular portions, I dont post edit or bookmark sessions cause I dont have time.
