Sonic Movie Character Development - Shadow Day 032 - Results
This is a short recording of today's results for lip sync and facial morph testing on Shadow - the actual session video will drop 5 or 6 days from now depending on your time zone. I ran a rescale on Bunnie Bot's head (was def too big next to shadow haha) and as a result of reimporting that model it broke all her physics bone assets so no more hair tail boob and ear physics for now - doesnt matter she was just the test anyway not really meant for a full on film project.
I am not animating the eyes at all since they are 2D UV eyes. Instead I have a blueprint hooked up for them telling the UVs who to offset in order to look at some target. So while all my eye blend shapes may or may not operate as intended at least the pupils will kinda appear to focus as if the character is looking at the other characters speaking to it.
If you are a CC4 user you may wanna follow this whole process just to keep up with some success stories, missteps and backtracks. There will be plenty of mistakes made I assure you, but the point is taking advantage of these pre-rigged humanoids, putting your own new bones and appendages on them and still retaining CC4s built in facial rigging if you are like me, a character modeler/texturer with no animation chops whatsoever.
