Sonic Movie Character Development - Shadow Day 032
Todays session was testing out a simple lip sync animation over in iClone and walking it into Unreal. Things being investigated were how bad any of the facial morphs/blend shapes were and if the lip syncing made any of them worse. Its far from perfect and I cannot animate at all so it all kinda looks cobbled together but as a preliminary test by someone whose main discipline is modeling and texturing this will have to do for now. Need to move on to adding the new bones, fixing skin weights, then finally applying the fur cards once all those weights are done. I reimported Bunnie after I scaled her head down to about 0.85 since the head was looking huge next to Shadows - but in the process I broke the physics asset - will fix later.
If you are a CC4 user you may wanna follow this whole process just to keep up with some success stories, missteps and backtracks. There will be plenty of mistakes made I assure you, but the point is taking advantage of these pre-rigged humanoids, putting your own new bones and appendages on them and still retaining CC4s built in facial rigging if you are like me, a character modeler/texturer with no animation chops whatsoever. Come along for the journey, this mess is finna be wild!
