Sonic The Fighters - Xbox 360 - Intro, playthrough of arcade mode as Sonic the Hedgehog [4k60]
Full longplay / playthrough / walkthrough / trueplay as Sonic the Hedgehog from the 1996 AM2 Model 2 arcade game Sonic The Fighters including attract mode and intro. A rather hilarious fighting game featuring Sonic and his friends, on a technical level it is utter dire as a one versus one fighter. But seeing as this is one game you can't play with a straight face, all is largely forgiven. This games started life as a bit of a joke, when one of the designers for Fighting Vipers decided to add Sonic and Tails into it.
Oddly despite the game being very well known and covered in countless Sega magazines at the time, it largely remained in Japan as an arcade game. A Sega Saturn port was planned at one stage, but cancelled. Meaning that it didn't get a proper western release until the Sonic Gems Collection arrived in 2005 on Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube arrived in 2005. This HD port re-released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2012 it also made, Honey, Eggman and Metal Sonic playable for the first time, the latter two are only available in versus mode.
As a fighter, it's far from perfect, based on the Fighting Vipers engine you have a invulnerable barrier instead of a guard defence which breaks related to damage. This can make the A.I very annoying as it overly uses the barrier guard, that said moves like Sonic's spin dash can shatter multiple barriers at once. Fighting range is very limited and with characters like Fang and Bean, able to throw projectiles things can get very unbalanced very quick. It is a AM2 fighter and their key fighting gameplay does shiny through, but for a more pure fighting experience Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers and Last Bronx are vastly better Sega fighters.
