Sonic the Hedgehog 1 - 2nd Playthrough Part 6: Scrap Brain Zone, Final Zone & Good Ending
49Since I've gone through this game, again, I wanted to show of more of the entirety of Scrap Brain.
In Act 1, I mostly stayed near the bottom of it compared to being in both the bottom and the middle of it in my first playthrough.
In Act 2, I go through a different route that eventually leads me to an area that has a very hidden and glitched monitor at 2:28. With the right timing and precision, you can break it open like what I do at 2:53.
It's weird. You can see the smoke coming out from the corner of that wall when you break the monitor, but the pink, glitched sprite that it apparently had floats upward two squares away from it. It doesn't do anything, but it was pretty nice for hackers to discover a few years ago.
Act 3 is a true death course, as it is a recolored version of Labyrinth Zone, replacing its golden-orange graphics with white and green, and replacing its green water with purple. You thought you had trouble not drowning in Labyrinth? HA! The water in Scrap Brain Act 3 is tweaked that its air bubbles take a longer amount of time to generate! So if you decide to take the deeper routes of that Act 3, it's going to be hard to even avoid that damn drowning theme if you don't pace yourself well enough.
The Final Zone follows right after Scrap Brain Act 3, and takes Sonic back to the other side of the barrier that was put between him and Eggman at the end of Act 2. Eggman simply uses giant pistons to pound Sonic into blue jelly. If that doesn't work, he'll summon pink electric balls to home in on him, instead. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Hit Eggman anytime you can when he comes down in one of his giant pistons. Although this Final Zone gives you no Rings, this final boss is a pretty huge pushover. Hit Eggman 8 times to force him out of the pistons, then he'll try to flee in his Eggmobile one more time. You can hit him from there as a bonus.

With South Island saved and all of the small animals freed, Sonic the Hedgehog returns to Green Hill Zone to use his 6 Chaos Emeralds to restore the land even further.
