Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) - Animation Exporting and Importing Tutorial
This is horrid, I'm sorry lol, I'm not even gonna write a proper description, just gonna paste what I said in the video.
Hi there! I'm gonna help you learn how to import and export animations for Sonic 06!
First you'll need a handful of things:
Sonic 06 with the files already extracted
Blender or 3DS Max (both work as long as they can save in fbx, I just use 3DS Max)
Visual Studio 2022 (to open up Knux's Misc Tools project file) - https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/
the 06 Toolkit (there's other ways to extract the animations from 06, but this is the way I use, sorry Hyper!)
https://github.com/hyperbx/Marathon/releases/tag/3.14
ADDENDUM: you could also use SkythTool's xno2dae tool, it does the job, and it's only slightly more involved.

Knux's Misc Tools (I don't believe his current Knux Tools supports 06? Knux if you watch this, correct me on that lol, sorry Knux! - Skyth's tool just has issues with animations that loop for a long period of time, and your stuff seems to avoid that)

Now
in the toolkit, open up the character's player arc from the win32 folder, for this example, I'm going to use Amy
next, go to SDK, model animation exporter, then check options, modes, models & animations
now select the Root.xno and the animation file you want to export, these will convert them to .dae, you can do this for just the model as well
hit convert, now in the folder, you'll see the .dae animation and model and the textures from the model, copy those into another folder
with it in the folder, open the .dae animation in 3DS Max or Blender by importing it
uhoh, looks like I accidently converted the head model lol, lemme fix that
of course 3DS Max crashed lol
I hope you're doing well today! I apologize for how scattered this tutorial is, it's my first time doing something like this.
back on track, open the animation in 3DS Max or Blender
there goodness, I seemed to have ran into some troubles lol, always clear out the extra files before trying again!!
after loading the animation, make any edits you wish to it
perfect! now select every bone with select all, and export it as a .fbx
now open up Knux's tools in Visual Studio, and open the program.cs too if it doesn't open already, the latter is what you need to make the scripts work
you'll take the script I'm indicating and place it into program.cs, I'll leave a copy+paste of what I use in the description too, to make your life easier ^^;
from there, just fill out the file paths as indicated in the function, 60fps is the normal animation fps for Sonic 06, so leave that be unless you want to speed up the animation
afterwards, go to Debug+Start Without Debugging
if everything is set right, you'll have a shiny new .xnm of your new animation!
now you can copy it into 06 to see if it works, be sure to back up any original files! (I'm replacing an animation in my files for LoS for testing this)
yay it works!!! now you're done! I hope this helps!!!9
