Dark Gaia Phoenix

Wow! It looks like I managed to defeat the Dark Gaia Phoenix even faster in the 360 version than I did in the Wii version, despite the boss battles being remarkably similar. Both involve chucking containers of water at the Dark Gaia Phoenix, both have the same area layout, and both feature the Phoenix shooting explosive homing feathers and a ground-wide shockwave. Both also have the Dark Gaia Phoenix's weak spot as its feet, and in both battles, once you hit the feet enough, Sonic the Werehog goes into a Quick Time Event where he wrangles the bird. In both versions, doing this three times wins the battle.

Most of the game, between the two versions, seem like they're made by entirely different teams, but the boss battles clearly have someone supervising both versions. The Egg Beetle, Dark Gaia Phoenix, the Egg Devil Ray, Dark Moray, the Egg Lancer, and the Egg Dragoon all play extremely similar from the Wii/PS2 version to the 360/PS3 version. Only the Dark Guardian in Shamar and the final battle against Dark Gaia diverge.

The 360/PS3 is essentially the "hard mode" of Sonic Unleashed (not including the downloadable content, which is probably Super Hard Mode for this game), so the Dark Gaia Phoenix has some extra tricks in this one. Sometimes, it swoops down over the arena, and if Sonic isn't on one of the raised areas or in the water, he'll catch on fire. He'll steadily lose health until he puts himself out after a few seconds or he steps into shallow water. It can also rapid-fire feathers, though they don't home in on Sonic. If you're bad at shielding, it can take a big chunk out of Sonic's health. (You see it cut short here, but the Phoenix can keep firing those feathers for a while.)
