Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Aug 20 09 A
This game has pretty long waits until it's able to find someone. I wonder why that is. It seems that the waits are shorter the fewer people there are online, so it must be related to the Wii spending time going through every opponent online and looking for some.
One thing I find myself doing a lot while waiting is reading National Geographic. A recently-arrived issue has some prety odd article names on the front cover. (It's the one featuring New York City before it was a city.) I don't know how many of you have subscriptions to National Geographic, but I'd venture that I'm an anomaly among Nintendo fans.
Match #1
Fox
Corneria
A taunt party is good for finding some of the odder taunts in this game. One that I forgot about until it showed up are the ones for the Star Fox characters in Corneria and Lylat Cruise. Here, you can see a conversation between Falco, Slippy, and Peppy that I accidentally performed. I was wondering why Fox was crouching and why I couldn't move him at all. ust when I thought the game broke on me, a transmission appeared from Slippy and I remembered what had happened.
Match #2
Pit
WarioWare, Inc.
There's at least one Final Destinationer in the room, but I feel a bit relieved that Basic Brawls can actually hold, well, brawls, after having been in so many taunt parties. Lag is still plentiful, making Ike a really difficult character to handle. Unlike most Ike users, this player knew how WarioWare works so everyone had to stay o their toes. At about 4:00 in the video, Sonic did a ledge grab to KO Zelda. It works in Stock matches...but it's not that good an idea in Time matches as someone else could get a point--me, in that case. I got a spectacular Hammer Head throw near the end and claimed the Smash Ball while I was at it, but I wasn't able to make full use of Palutena's Army. As for Sudden Death...I forgot about the Mirror Shield. Does it work on Din's Fire?
Match #3
Pokémon Trainer (Charizard)
Temple
Aw man, I would've won this one had Ice Climbers not been scoring points for for Ike. Ice Climbers don't have as good of a reach, so they need to use their Ice Shots to stun Ike long enough to get in range and strike. This player isn't too used to the Ice Climbers, it looks like. In retrospect, I might've had this one if I remembered to use the Triple Finish going down the far right instead of losing the Smash Ball. Or if the match had gone on for one more second, which would've put the match into Sudden Death. Still managed to get a KO out of the Iceberg anyway without getting KOed, so it worked out.
