Soul Rage is an interesting F2P (Free to Play) danmaku (or bullet curtain/ bullet hell) shooter...and a pretty neat one too! This game is pretty new, and I *think* it is still being worked on. The game reminds some people of popular "Cave" shooters and it is from "Carton", a Korean game developer. Basically, you must control Vincent (from the start...unless you buy rubies or watch hundreds of ads!) and take down swarms of enemies that move on the land, fly through the air, or reside in the sea! It wouldn't be interesting if it didn't have some "pay for" stuff, right? Well, you don't have to pay for anything, but because there are things you can pay real money for, that means the game has to have some stuff IN IT...at least in theory, right? Don't worry, Soul Rage has some cool features and it is not a super "grind or pay for victory" game. This is partially due to the fact that unlike games like Seven Knights where luck is involved to a small degree (because you can't target specific enemies, though you can spam Area-Of-Effect attacks), you can win in Soul Rage with skill because skill is a necessary component.

However, you get in-game "Gold" and "Rubies" for different things...like a lot of mobile F2P games in general, you should know that when a mobile game has multiple "currencies", one is easier to get within the game, and the other one (or other ones) is hard to get and usually lets you get rarer items easier or some such thing. This game is no exception. Rubies are pretty hard to get after a while without accomplishing achievements and you need rubies to buy some of the locked characters, among other things. However, you can buy some heroes with gold too and actually, compared to some games, getting rubies is pretty easy! Carton does something in a way that I like; if you do not wish to spend real world money to get those nice "ruby" items, just watch some short ads and they'll GIVE you a ruby for each. The ads help Carton, they are non-intrusive (you can choose to watch them), and, because they used this system to help you gain more rubies, I watched a few ads that recommended some Android games I didn't have, and guess what? I actually ended up downloading a couple. Carton's method is a good one and for people who don't mind watching some short ads in the background here and there while doing other things, we don't have to spend real money and developers win when you actually download their other stuff.

At any rate, you can buy stuff with gold too, and you also use gold to level up your character and make them stronger! A stronger character will make it easier to win the battles ahead...but leveling up isn't the only way to get stronger; you can obtain weapons and level them up too, by using other weapons as materials. You can also assemble new weapons! The only thing is that I wish you could acquire a couple more weapons when you are playing through the main stages. I might beat several stages and go back with maybe one weapon, if I get one! Sometimes I'll get two, but I usually get one weapon. At any rate, it's not a huge problem (and you probably get better stuff at higher difficulties, once they are unlocked) and perhaps the weapon drop rate might increase a bit in an update.

The visuals are pretty good and the music is quite good too, but there is one thing to note regarding the music...I have never played the game, so I do not know how true this is, but apparently, it is said that the music isn't original...it is said that the Lobby song (where you upgrade your character and items) is the PvP song of a closed-down game called Rusty Heart. The boss fight song is a remix of a Touhou (one of the best, iconic Danmaku games) song done by a group of fan artists. I do not know if that is true myself, but I felt it was worth noting.
