Space Harrier Game Sample - Sega Master System
Space Harrier is a classic rail shooter originally released in arcades in 1985 by Sega, and it was produced by the famous Yu Suzuki. It was later ported to many different platforms from various home consoles as well as several computer platforms, and even got a shot in the handheld world with a Game Gear port. Several sequels, remakes, and updates were also made such as Space Harrier 3-D, Space Harrier II, Planet Harriers (which is a spin-off), etc. Playing as a blonde superhuman Earthling warrior armed with a giant cannon, you're summoned by Uriah the friendly dragon to save the once beautiful "Garden of Eden", the Fantasy Zone (Dragon Land Universe) during "Space Year 6226".
The Sega Master System port was quite impressive for its time. While it clearly doesn't possess the same large sprites, sense of speed, or control scheme as the arcade original, it still more or less retained the same levels, had a few nice easter eggs such as the ability to view a secret message or change your hero into a jet, featured psuedo-3D terrain, and actually featured more of a story with a real ending. It's also better than Sega and Takara's Famicom port and some of the computer ports. The goal of the game is simple: Dodge, Shoot, and don't get killed.
This is a video of the game in action. Enjoy.
