Crush Roller [クラッシュローラー] Game Sample - NeoGeo Pocket Color
Crush Roller for the NGPC is a remake of the classic Pac-Man style maze game, Make Trax, which was developed by the South Korean Company, Kural Samno (or in Japan by Kural Samno Electric Ltd.), and introduced by Williams in 1981 to many more arcade gaming enthusiasts (where it was released under the name "Crush Roller"). Several unlicensed and/or pirated versions of the game have surfaced throughout the years such as "Brush Roller" for the Famicom or cloned like "Paint" for the Pelican VG Pocket. The NGPC game was released internationally.
The general premise of the game involved playing as a paintbrush, where you had to paint the entire stage a certain color while being chased by two creatures. Every so often, a third entity will emerge and ruin the path you painted (which you must repaint) but can be captured for bonus points. You could also stop your assailants by using rollers to run them over.
This remake, handled by ADK (Alpha Denshi Kabushiki Kaisha, known for many games over the years, but are most famous for their work with SNK) is decidely more cute, opting for many bright colors and cute creatures, and sports enhanced audio/visuals from the old arcade game with minor gameplay additions such as an "Ojama Collection" (A collection of the various hindrances or foes you meet) which serves little purpose other than to brighten your day with cute artwork and the characters say several different things. There's also a versus and time trial mode, but the game is largely unchanged, which has disappointed some.
Overall, it's a decent little action-puzzler, but there are better titles on the NGPC. This is a video of it in action. Enjoy.
