Paweł Pijanowski has announced the release of SparkyLinux 2021.03, the latest update of the project's semi-rolling-release distribution based on Debian's "Testing" branch. This release adds a new addition featuring the KDE Plasma desktop to the existing lineup: "SparkyLinux 2021.03 of the semi-rolling line is out. It is the first snapshot SparkyLinux in 2021 and it is based on the Debian 'Bullseye'. Changes: packages upgraded from Debian testing repositories as of March 5, 2021; Linux kernel 5.10.13 (5.11.3 and 5.12-rc2 in SparkyLinux unstable repositories); Firefox 86.0 and Thunderbird 78.8.0; LibreOffice 7.0.4.2; LXQt 0.16.0, MATE 1.24.1, Xfce 4.16, Openbox 3.6.1; new edition with KDE Plasma 5.20.5; VLC 3.0.12; Exaile 4.1.0; Calamares 3.2.37 with kpmcore 20.12.3; SparkyLinux APTus AppCenter 20210302; added extra keyboard shortcuts to Xfce, LXQt and Openbox...

SparkyLinux 2021.03 Edition – What’s New
Base and Kernel
This release is based on Debian 11 (Bullseye) which is in the testing phase as of writing this post. Debian 11 packages hard freeze is expected by March 2021 end. Linux Kernel 5.10 series are available with the stable version of SparkyLinux. If you want the latest Linux Kernel 5.11 you can get them via adding the Sparky Unstable repos. You can find the unstable repo details here.
Desktop Environments
For the first time, Sparky Linux introduces the KDE Plasma edition. However, it features the KDE Plasma 5.20.5, not the latest KDE Plasma 5.21 which is released a while back. In the next SparkyLinux release, you should be getting the latest Plasma.
SparkyLinux 2021.03 edition features Xfce 4.16 edition which brings a huge set of features such as new icons, fractional scaling, and more. Check out the Xfce 4.16 overview here.
This edition also features the super lightweight LXQt 0.16 which is the latest version of this desktop. For LXQt some specific changes are included.
In addition to that, MATE 1.24.1 is also included in this release.
KDE Plasma Edition
The most important addition to SparkyLinux with the new release is the addition of a KDE Plasma edition.
It runs the KDE Plasma 5.20.5 desktop environment and is being offered with KDE Frameworks 5.78 and KDE Applications 20.12.2.
Other Improvements
Sparky Linux 2021.03 features Linux Kernel 5.10.13 with the option to get 5.11.3 or 5.12-rc2 through the unstable repositories of Sparky.

Get SparkyLinux 2021.03
Existing users can either update their system through the “Sparky Upgrade” tool or run the following commands to update their system.
A user can directly execute the following command by typing or pasting it in the terminal:
sparky-upgrade
or
Open the terminal and type or paste the following command to get the update package:
sudo apt update
Then type or paste the following command into the terminal to update SparkyLinux:
sudo apt full-upgrade
