Spawn Armageddon. Easy Mode. Blind Playthrough. Episode 1. WANDA!.
It's time... for SPAWNNNNNNNN!
I want the new movie to be good I really do. I still got issues with not making the experience around the comics, simply because there is no 100% perfect translation of at least one element within the characters... but this said, I have no issues with it because Todd himself stated that Spawn will just focus on Spawn as to lead into a cinematic universe around the character. Which is why they will focus on establishing the business or Earth first and make it gritty and possibly very violent... which I am up for, as long as it doesn't become the single most taboo breaking thing (though, what's taboo in modern society right now anyway, seems like you can expect anything and everything out of your house).
Anyway focusing upon this game, it's been commented a lot by Maximilian Dood in his videos around the game, as being a Namco attempt at Soul Reaver with Spawn in it, that ended up being recycled as a Devil May Cry clone because there was no funds to complete the full development. That is to say, graphics were supposed to be much better, akin to the great lighting particles used in the fire and magic of the game, and music to be more diverse... and ended up not being the case, because the devs couldn't really push that nerve unfortunately at the time.
However, HOWEVER... I really like this game, I really do. For starters it capitalizes upon the action and chaos like it was with Spawn In The Demon's Hand for the Dreamcast, and if you like or love that game like I do, than you have a single player version of that experience that is really, REALLY enhanced. Like having more options for offence, and yes a slower engine but also a more stable engine (Spawn In The Demon's Hand was the single most chaotic game and buggy game I've ever seen if you try to die at weird moments or transition over and over...) that just allows for more specific attacks to hit and kill characters easier, making the game more diverse overall than the "run back + machine gun/magic spam" that Spawn In The Demon's Hand had become.
So see I like it because it's the sequel to Spawn In The Demon's Hand we never got, and also the Soul Reaver Spawn game we never had... and that sounds really awesome just thinking about it, even though it was so marginalized both at release and today. Now if only they made a stealth style Spawn game in the style of The Darkness 2 on the PC, that'd be AWESOME, because as you know, Spawn is one of my favourite 90s comic book characters.
Oh also, how do you like Korn styled traditional instrument rhythms (bagpipes) as guitar riffs with downtuning? It's the 90s to 2000s dood, that's what was popular back then, so most of the game's music is like that. So just freak on a leash, really.
