Splatoon 2: Avoiding the limelight in League Tower Control [14(2)-3, Splattershot]
Who needs range anyway? Hopefully not us! I set myself up on a ledge to look things over for a bit, popping down to destroy a Beakon, which then gets me in a spot of bother. I think splatting the Luna Blaster gets me out of the scrape, but there's a Splat Roller too. And another Sprinkler! Or the same one. A Splashdown helps keep me safe, but little more, although I manage to hit the second Sprinkler. Or the first a second time, I'm not sure. Back up to the ledge for a better perspective, letting me drop down if not on top of the Splat Roller then close enough for it not to matter. It nearly did matter, though.
I spy the Splat Charger and can't help but make a beeline for them. The Luna Blaster gets in my way, who I splat with a spot of luck, and the Splat Charger has a Sting Ray out to helpfully guide me towards them. Unfortunately, it also guides me closer to the returning Splat Roller, and my single-mindedness at splatting the charger kinda gets me in more trouble than I should be. So it goes. At least my squidmates have taken the Tower in to the lead.
I tidy up some mess near our base, not wanting to get close to the Tower just yet, and when I press forwards I do so obliquely. Some Bubbles keep me at bay, and the uncertain whereabouts of the Splat Roller encourages me to head around the back. I get to the opposite ledge of our own, but have to jump off by a curiously retreating Ink Storm. Thankfully, the Ink Storm is the only orange thing retreating, letting me run in to one splat by accident, and my squidmates look to splat the rest of the orange team. We're back on the Tower and moving forwards.
I help claim more turf, tidying up a bit too, before trying to dislodge the inkling somewhat out of reach on the grating. They jump down of their own accord, and I give chase. That nearly gets me splatted by surging past the Splat Charger, but a Splashdown helps hide me, and turn the pressure around. I ink more, denying turf to the orange team, and make sure the Tower is moving forwards, before heading back to the flank. The roller thinks it's safe to roll, but it isn't, and the Splat Charger is back in a hard-to-reach area. I try to get them to move with Burst Bombs, but I don't think it works. Never mind, it's all getting a bit ink around the Tower. I do my best to keep things moving whilst splatting the orange team, but eventually the numbers go against us.
I see someone jumping the water as I return. My move to intercept is better than my aim, but at least it's the Luna Blaster, and I am happily out of their range, unlike them versus my Burst Bombs. I sit by the side, and when no one looks to be making a move to the Tower I head around the back, where I dive-bomb the Luna Blaster with another Burst Bomb, and wait for the Splat Roller to land, thankfully just angle away from their overhead flick. I head for where the Splat Charger probably is, and they were there, before pushing the Tower for a moment.
I hop off the Tower to make the flanking Luna Blaster think again, but end up using a Splashdown to save myself from the unseen Splat Roller. The Luna Blaster reappears, thankfully not chasing me, and their splatting lets us focus back on the Tower, displacing the orange inkling on that. I move forwards to keep the pressure on, but it all gets a bit inky, and rather than try to break the Splat Brolly's canopy under an Ink Storm I simply run away.
Some height is always good, and seems to keep me safe, as does a Splashdown. It's miss-timed slightly, landing me on the Tower, which seems fine, until the Splat Charger picks me off easily. Still, there's only ten seconds left in the battle, and I barely have time to leave our base before my squidmates have cleared the Tower and claimed it for ourselves, securing the victory. Woomy!
