Splatoon 2: Leaving it late in Tigerfest Quinze [15(7)-6, Custom Hydra Splatling]
It's Tigerfest Quinze! I've been practicing with the Hyrda Splatling recently, so I'm giving it a go in these private battles, and I start with a lucky splat just aiming at the Tower. Thinking it's safe, I head backwards to inflate the sponge and get some height, but it isn't safe, there are still inklings on the Tower. Well, maybe the Hydra Splatling's range will still help. And maybe it does, but my aim doesn't, unlike Sci-Fi's. Maybe I should have moved a bit. I use my range to good effect on my return, splatting an inkling off the Tower, and the same inkling super-jumping back, sorry about that, before heading towards the centre as the Tower resets.
I ride the Tower briefly, getting knocked off thanks to my Ink Armour. I actually think I'm hitting the drink, but land on dry ground instead. That'll do! I have to back off, though, and get a charge going to try to keep the Tower clear. I'm distracted as I spot an inkling coming along my flank, which I deal with much more effectively than the inkling right in front of my nose. The Tower comes our way again, but not too far, and I find myself tidying up, until the flying Sci-Fi interrupts.
Everything's far too green for our health, so as my squidmates deal with the Tower I get to work on the turf. As the Tower resets, I turn my attention back to the green team themselves, and knock a couple of inklings off their ledge, before looking closer to the ground for splats. I probably shouldn't have dropped off our ledge, though, as we're more a target for bombs down there, and my inexperience with the Hydra Splatling moves me forwards to avoid them, not backwards. I get a couple of splats, but that position is not sustainable.
At least we are moving the Tower forwards again, which is good. I super-jump to the Tower to try to keep things moving, using an Ink Mine and the Tower's column for defence. It works quite well, until we get to the bridge, at which point I am drenched in green ink from Viper's Inkbrush, and just one point away from the lead. Viper does their best to keep us away from the battle too, lobbing Splat Bombs from around the corner, using their agility to hide again quickly. That tactic only works for so long, though, and once they are splatted we're back on the Tower.
We don't get as close to the lead before the Tower is cleared, and I run from Tenta Missiles to jump across to the Tower, only with a Suction Bomb below me. Somehow that doesn't splat me, which is nice, and the Flingza Roller falls off the Tower, also nice, but in super-jumps Sci-Fi, dodge-rolling off the Tower to splat me efficiently. Not nice. Squiddo takes over, though, and gets us back to within one point of the lead before being splatted, getting us close again, but not quite far enough. Time is running out now too, with barely ten seconds left in the battle.
I super-jump back, because I can't afford not to, and make a bold jump across to the Tower, just as it jinks away from me. I didn't think I'd make it, but I'm back on the Tower and watching for trouble. Sci-Fi is behind me, but jumps in to the water, which is good of them, and Viper doesn't get in position above me quite in time. I trundle in to the lead just as extra time begins. That was close! Woomy!
