Splatoon 2: Down by the coast in All-Grizzco Salmon Run [31-40-43, 32/782]
It's all-Grizzco weapons in Salmon Run, so I'm taking advantage of it. Maws ain't a great start to use the weapons, but still nice and easy, and it really seems like we are making the most of our weapons when we are barely seeing many bosses coming at us. Of course, that doesn't mean I don't run in to trouble, quite the opposite, but that little blooper just gets me to pay a bit more attention. I have to admit too that despite the Brolly being one of the weaker weapons, its inking power makes it great to have if you think keeping surfaces the right colour is important. And I do. It's also at least as good as the Blaster at other tasks, putting it head and shoulders above that.
As far as first waves go, this is pretty smooth. I could have hit the Drizzler with its missile, but it wasn't a problem, and the turf is more orange than green by the end. It's like the salmonids weren't even here. It is still low tide for the second wave, and my goal to spring off the opening basket remains unachieved. There's no inking to do, at least. We start like the first wave, the Drizzler not even hitting the ground, but I'm disappointed that the Scrappers are treated the same way. They could be easy eggs by the basket. At least when one comes from the other direction we get some easy eggs.
Even when the salmonids come from a third direction we stay on top of things. A bit of dodging a Scrapper lets me splat the Stinger nicely, and the Steelhead doesn't stand a chance with three Grizzco chargers. Again, we are barely bothered by the bosses, and are even left looking for eggs by the end of the wave. I just miss cramming one last egg in the basket. On to the third wave, back to the shore, but this time with the least interesting of the Grizzo weapons. At least there is a Stinger to start with, and I'm all over it. It's the one boss my weapon splats best, and I'm making sure I do.
Another Stinger wades on to shore and I head out to splat it, pausing to throw a Splat Bomb in to a Flyfish bin. This wave already feels busier, and it is almost certainly because of the extra Flyfish that are turning up. We have no Slosher to deal with them, and pausing to throw two Splat Bombs per boss or end up dodging salvos of missiles is causing us problems we didn't have the past two waves. It doesn't help when I mess up my landing and slip in to the water. At least I got the Flyfish.
I realise I have a couple of Splashdowns to use, so pop one out when some smallfry are around. I don't think it does much, but that's okay. We hit quota and easily exceed it thanks to some Maws and a Scrapper close to the basket, even if the Flyfish continue to make things awkward, and I use my second Splashdown to clear some room for us to cram a few last-second eggs in to the basket. This time, I get the last one in. It's a good run, everyone did well, and Mr Grizz is nice and happy. Woomy!
