Splatoon 2: Hero Mode: Stage 1: Return of the Octarians
Like in the first Splatoon's Hero Mode (of which I still have yet to make a playthrough of), your Inkling's primary mission as Agent 4 is to defeat all of the Octarian forces and recover the Great Zapfish. To lead up to this, you must visit different stages of Octarian territory, splat their troops away, and recover the smaller yellow Zapfish at the end of each stage.
Marie, who is also Agent 2, will guide you through these stage as her grandfather, Capn Cuttlefish, did to your Inkling of Agent 3 in the first game.
--------------
Stage 1 is pretty much a reintroduction of Splatoon's Single Player mode, where Marie teaches you the entire game's basic controls. Don't just remember this for future stages, also use this for training and practice in the game's multiplayer matches. This game's Single Player is stronger than Splatoon 1's, but Multiplayer is to the main name of the game, and I'll be covering that in a different playlist!
In Hero Mode, your Ink can recharge on its own, even when you're not swimming in your own ink, though it will be at a much slower pace.
Still exclusive to Hero Mode are Power Eggs that you get from prizes and splatting enemies. You need these to upgrade your weapons and get new sub-weapons. You will also need a brand new source called Sardinium, which can be tricky to find. Sunken Scrolls also make a comeback and are remain just as sneaky. Collect them to get a bit of backstory behind some of this game's new and old characters.
Special Weapons are also usable in Single Player, again, though they're completely new in this game, and can still only be used by finding certain power ups.
Once again, to complete the stage, just find and grab the Zapfish at the end of them. Watch as your Woomy gives a big cute smile to it!
--------------
One of the stranger new additions are Squid Rings. You pass through them to get Power Eggs, but... they're literally giant floating rings of fried squid. That's kinda creepy considering that you ARE a squid (and a kid)!
Though seeing those things to raise my appetite to eat some squid rings, myself...
