Splatoon 3: Mini fun in Tower Control [12(2)-4, Zink Mini Splatling]
I enjoyed the Mini Splatling recently in Tigerfest, so I'm bringing it out to ranked battled. I see I'm dealing with a heavier version on the other team. That shouldn't be a problem, right? Much like Salmon Run, I find myself inking walls to start with, mobility always being good, and tossing Toxic Mist here and there. I like to think that helps us take the early lead, although avoiding a Kraken and cornering the Squiffer probably contributes to losing that lead too. At least I find myself behind the Tower, so that I can clear it. Or try to, and get splatted from behind myself.
I head back to the Tower moving forwards. I look for the right opportunity to move up, and think I've found it, but run out of ink. A Bubbler refills my tank, and I just about dodge a Splat Bomb inside the shield, but can't deal with the inkling on the Tower with me. Some quick splats lets the blue team turn the Tower around, but some decent defence doesn't let them get far. I get a bit caught up sitting on the perch, when I don't have the range to let me, and the Rapid Blaster makes me pay.
The Tower comes our way again, and the blue team are peppering us with Splat Bombs as it does. They are mostly easily dodged, and we turn things around. My squidmates get some good splats, offering a way forwards, and I use that space to get right around the side, avoiding the Kraken as I do, where I hope to support the Tower's approach. The Bubbler placement is poor, though, but I get lucky against the Heavy Splatling, pushing it off the ledge. A squidmate's Bubbler is better, and I skirmish around the Tower, getting splats that keep it safe. A bit of pressure on the Squiffer helps too, and that lets my squidmates take us in to the lead.
I keep the Squiffer busy, but there's only so much my little Splatling can do from where I am, and the Tower is turned around. At least staying where I am lets us recover it quickly, my Bubbler doing well this time. I have to run away soon, though, and head fully back for my safety. There is a flurry of activity around the Tower as it hits our ledge, where splats occur around me without much more than Point Sensors hitting me. I'm happy with that, and get a bead on the Squiffer as the Tower is reset.
A Bubbler saves me as blue ink flies in from everywhere, and I run away again. My squidmates keep the Tower treading water, and I move up when things look safer, only to jump in to a bit more trouble than I can deal with. Thank goodness for the squidmate's Dolphin, and from there my Bubbler protects me from the Squiffer and Splattershot, who only throws Splat Bombs from a distance. A quick squid forwards and I disorientate them for the splat. The Tower is free to increase our lead. Another splat on the Rapid Blaster is good, and I think I can hide from the Squiffer a bit more, but the Heavy Splatling makes itself known. It's all good, though, as we hit the ten-second mark moments later, and my squidmates have everything covered. Woomy!
