Splatoon 3: Smooth splat on Cohozuna in Salmon Run [40-35-32-xs, 36/1801]
We're up the Junction! High tide means less to ink, but Glowflies means trouble. I have the Hydra Splatling, which will chew through everything, but takes an age to charge and will run out of ink. We also need to get eggs in the basket. It's not easy when the Chum get through our defences, strangely uncoordinated for being in a group of three with one rando, but at least each weapon has its strength in this wave, and we manage to keep most inklings standing most of the time. There is a nice section in the middle where we have everything under control, followed by another panic where a second Special is used, but I'm quite happy with finding another place to jump across two ledges to send the Chum the wrong direction. It looks like it works well, even if I get pushed in to the drink afterwards, and we just about get through to the second wave.
More high tide, but without any additional drama for the next wave. I have the Splatana Wiper, which I still have to learn how to use, but I'm willing to learn! There are plenty of Steel Eels to line up, which isn't great for high tide, their winding bodies stopping me going for the running charge. Things calm down afterwards, with Flippers, just right for the Wiper, and Scrappers, also not a bad choice, start coming. I think I'm getting the hang of things, and then I run out of ink and am spooned from behind by a Smallfry. So it goes. We make it through the wave more comfortably than the previous, and head in to the final one.
Low tide, and the Octobrush with it. I don't like brushes at all. I should probably get in a cannon, given we've got a Cohock Rush, but my mobility makes collecting eggs better. I can run under Lids without getting splatted more reliably too, although I find myself jumping in to a cannon when the right side of the Junction gets jammed up, with a Stinger and two Flyfish causing problems. Everything is brought back under control nicely, and I get back to grabbing eggs, using my two Killer Wails because I can, and we finish the Run comfortably.
But wait, a King Salmonid is coming! It's the Cohozuna, and I have Splat Dualies. A Fish Finger is good for early eggs and some height to hit the Zuna and stay out of its landing, and I can dodge-roll out of the way of its belly lunges. Or I can, until I get greedy with some Scrapper eggs just in front of the Zuna. Still, lots of damage done early. It takes a while to get revived, but I am, and use an egg to splat a Drizzler to get more eggs. And there are more lying around. One misses, one hits a Cohock by accident, but we're hitting the Zuna reliably too, and a surprise Maws gives us enough firepower to get the splat. Woomy!
