Splatoon 3: Piling on the pressure in Rainmaker [24(6)-7, Range Blaster]
We burst the Rainmaker free quickly, but the blue team keep it covered in ink. One of them even grabs it, as I wait for my opportunity, so I pop up to splat them instead. I push up to look for more splats as the Rainmaker recovers, finding one, but falling in to my own as I do. I return down the side, catching the Big Swig a little by surprise. They get away, but not far, and I move up on the Octobrush, goodness knows why. A better first blast would have kept me safe. I super-jump to save a few seconds, as my squidmates move the Rainmaker forwards. I lob a Suction Bomb on to the checkpoint, hoping to clear the way, and although it gets a double-splat the Rainmaker is dropped. Those splats help keep the way clear, though, and we get to the checkpoint.
There's a short Inkzooka battle, which I avoid, and I spot someone coming over the rotating platform, which turns out to be the Octobrush. That's a satisfying splat. There's more pressure all around, and I take some off the Rainmaker with a decent splat, only to run straight in to a Suction Bomb. My squidmates hold strong, so I super-jump back, and although there's a spot of trouble, we keep our position. I move around to avoid an Inkzooka, leading me to help with the Rainmaker. A few blasts looks to keep things clear, but it only looks that way. Our presence is removed from the blue side of the museum.
Having the advantage, I wait for the blue team to come to me, bagging two more splats and stopping the Rainmaker, before tracking the Splattershot and finally getting them too. I see another on the ledge, a squidmate getting to them first, but I throw a Wave Breaker up there to help out, only to find myself pretty isolated quite quickly. I manage to stay somewhat safe, and get lucky moving away from the Octobrush just as they transform to find me. The Rainmaker blasts away, trying to make room, but they run out of time. They drop down from the ledge to leave the Rainmaker somewhere awkward.
I scoot along the bottom, moving around sneakily, popping up to get three close-range splats in quick succession, which probably isn't what the 'Range' means in the weapon's name. It also puts me too close to the Octobrush. We have a good lead, but apparently little turf. I try to help with that, moving up to help the Rainmaker, getting another splat but missing the Octobrush just when I didn't want to. The Rainmaker is lost, and I'm stuck in ink next to a Splat Bomb. So it goes. At least the blue team don't have that much turf to work in now, slowing down the Rainmaker, but not so much that they slip past me. By the time I notice, I'm out of position, and easy to splat.
As we enter the final thirty seconds, I get defensive. I hold our turf, probing the blue ink. I find the Octobrush, a squidmate getting the splat, and see another splat nearby. I push forwards and find the other two blue inklings nice and close, just ripe for a twin splat. That's a wipeout. With ten seconds to go, we're probably safe. Our Rainmaker carrier still manages to get splatted just before time runs out, though, sending us in to overtime. It's best to let them grab the Rainmaker and stop them than challenging for the shield. So that's what we do. Woomy!
