Satori and Koishi Komeiji (The coolest sisters around) are the Scene 9 bosses of the game Double Spoiler, the 12.5th installment of the Touhou Project and sequel to Shoot the Bullet. The Touhou Project is a danmaku shooter series created by a philanthropist of life, ZUN.
First things first: Like we say here in Puerto Rico, "Les voy a dar 'Last Remote' por un tubo y siete llaves. "
I was planning on putting a 3rd eye, but I didn't found any one that convinced me. And I didn't even bother with Hartmann's, although the first song has some Hartmann's. I simply couldn't let past the opportunity to abuse Last Remote. If Broken Moon is the boss's theme, and Deserted Hell the stage's theme, Last Remote is the Menu Theme. The Credit's theme alternates between Eternal Steam Engine and Herselves, depending on a complex algorithm consisting of many things. If you beat it in Lunatic using Reimu and Marisa and end in Final F, an orchestral arrange of Dichromatic Butterflies plays.
But back unto reality, the Touhou Project is famous for the notion that "Fanon is Canon". This idea truly makes the series a very interesting subject to explore, since you can arm the pieces of the puzzles, taking the aspects you like ('Freud was right' Koishi) and dismissing those that you hate (Whoever got the bright idea of making Koishi's hair absurdly curly *glares at ZUN*).
Anyways, I'm saying this because I tend to think a lot about how Gensokyo came to be. Particularly, what were the events that forced the youkais into going in isolation? Something must have happened, but what? The longer I think about, the better I manage to get all the pieces to make sense. The emigration to the Former Hell, Byakuren's imprisonment, and the lack of divine intervention in the outside world. All this is connected to Gensokyo's creation. This is obviously a fanon interpretation and my guesses are as good as yours. I shall share it some other time, maybe a fan fiction. God forbid that, but it can happen =/
"DUDE, WHAT ABOUT THE SISTERS????"
What? All that was related to the sisters. In fact, it practically revolved around the Komeiji sisters. Sure it does. Who is to believe, you or the guy who wrote it? I started thinking of all that while giving a backstory to the sisters. As stepmanianub said in a previous video, these are some of ZUN's finest works, particularly the spell's names. The Komeiji sisters are some of the deepest characters in the series. If I ever get to write that fan fiction, their backstory will be a blast to write. =p
As anticipated, I loved doing this video, particularly playing with the psychology behind it. If I recall correctly, all transitions were done using the "Gradient Wipe", therefore all of the transitions where done using images. The first two are a heart opening (Satori) and one closing (Koishi). Can you guess the imagery in each transition?
But the most I loved of making this was seeing the songs mix with the spells. Last Remote is a song that revitalizes. The fast tempo, the adrenaline, the crescendo, the fun and joyful, yet somehow dramatic tune, everything in this song screams "CHARGE!!" But the case is, I truly love Last Remote and I love its vocal arranges, since they manage to convey that unique feeling of the original song better than the instrumental arranges. And personally I find that this is a song where a young male vocal fits better than a female due to the mood of the song. Such a rare occurrence.
One more thought, the artist of the title pic, おくマリ, loves doing the same picture twice when Satori and Koishi are involved, allowing me to the nice negative effect
Trivia: Besides Touhou, there's another game featured in this video. And besides Touhou, is probably the game with the most mentions in this channel. If it isn't the one with the most, is easily on the top three. Maybe. Can you guess the game?
