How do you pronounce Flandre? It seems the "e" is silent; however, I simply ignore that and pronounce it "FLAN-dreh", making a little "h" sound towards the end, like a sigh.
*Sigh*
Spanish is a very phonetic language. With the exception of the "h", which truthfully is a worthless silent letter than only works to make the "ch" sound, similar to the "sh" sound of the word "shine", and to differentiate how you write a couple of homophone words from one another, every letter and syllable has a sound and it is constant. The "e" doesn't change sound just because it is used in two different words. Always, ALWAYS, it sounds like the "e"s in "elephant".
I don't know why I brought Flandre's pronunciation to the table. I guess I'm curious. Flan is one of my favorite characters. Top ten definitely. However, there is only a certain degree of moeness I can take from her. I like my Flandre, not necessarily insane, but with a very excitable personality and a poor notion of good and bad. Even though it is definitely not the exact personality I would shoot for, Aozora Market's "Scarlet and Scarlet" is, without contest, my favorite doujin about the Scarlet Sisters. In fact, his/her/their conception and interpretation of the sisters are my favorite of any circle. From Flandre's normal cheerfulness and felicity with spontaneous bursts of madness to Remilia's disgusting smile. Remember when I talked about neutral expressions in Reimu's vid in the Imperishable Playthrough? That's the Remilia I imagine, a calm and collected lady that wears a perturbing smile that can do nothing but send a chill down your spine. Sigh, too bad there are like only four translated doujins by he/she/it/them. Now that I recall, I love Aozora's visualization of Flan, but Tohonifun's is better. Mature looking Flandre in a long dress FTW. Is beautiful AND badass. ^_^
Flandre is without doubt an interesting character to explore. Hehe, kinda wanted to continue talking about Remilia, but got carried away with Flan. I honestly wish the sister were featured more on the series, but I guess they won't be appearing a lot unless it is in the fighting games.
In the first video I posted about Flandre, I said that for someone whose ability is Destruction of Anything and Everything, her battle lacks the chaos you would expect. The only thing I don't really like about Flan's fight is that her ability isn't really that represented. At least in an obvious manner anyways. I think only "Cranberry Trap" and "And Then Will There Be None?" are related, since those attacks are kind of aimed towards the center or you. Is like Flan has the eye in her hand and is slowly closing it, with destruction approximating from all sides.
And then there's my alternate interpretation to "Quod Erat Demonstrandum." Q.E.D. is in my opinion a very melancholic spell, showing the loneliness and hurtful nature of 495 years of abandonment. The ripples of 495 years. A single drop, a tear is enough to cause ripples in a pond. Flandre is crying during the spell. The ripples are made by her destroying said tears. The waves you see are nothing more than the destroyed tears, in this final attack that releases the frustration of 495 years of imprisonment. Solitude is painful and Flan's genuine tears are proof of this. Q.E.D
Sigh, I feel like I need to continue talking, but I just cannot think of anything else. I'll leave it at this. Thanks to all for your support. Classes start soon and my schedule is pretty heavy this semester, so my video input will continue in a low. Still, I hope you stick in there and continue supporting.
