Star Fox Adventures - Gamecube - Part 1 of first hour of gameplay [HD 1080p 60fps]
Shigeru Miyamoto bastardization of Rare's Dinosaur Planet did untold damage to the Star Fox series reputation and destoryed the IP of Dinosaur Planet ensuring it would never get a sequel. Miyamoto has made a lot of blunders over the Star Fox series and this is just one of them. The end result was that it poisoned a lot of the Star Fox fans unfairly against a very good game for the most part. The arwing sections are awful and Star Fox and his friends feel shoehorned into the world of Dinosaur Planet.
However, if you ignore the terrible additions of Shigeru Miyamoto and treat this game as the intended Dinosaur Planet, then you have a fanatic Zelda clone that would have been a loving swansong to the Nintendo 64. Development problems and Nintendo 64 sales concerns for a end life game, pushed the title to the Gamecube. Rare took the time to remaster all the graphics and visually the game is still very impressive even today 14 years after release. Built using the Zelda engine Dinosaur Planet makes better use of it than the previous two Zelda games. The environment is stunning and the night and day system of the world moves flawlessly between the two. Combat is fast and fluid and the puzzles while not always clear, insure you have to use a few of your brain cells to solve.
While not without its flaws, the voice acting is dire as Rare just used its own staff to do them and the script writing isn't good either. Rare's technical accomplishments here are very impressive with the game supporting widescreen and 60fps, ironically the first Star Fox game to do so. It also showed up the terrible 2005 released Namco made Star Fox Assault which lacked widescreen and looked graphically far worse.
Part 1 of the video covers the opening thirty minutes as Krystal and the first arwing section for gameplay as Star Fox please see part 2. https://youtu.be/ORHs92tzpn4
