StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void - Baneling Dropping Mineral Lines! (Game Analysis)
The latest StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void patch introduced Ventral Sacs at the Hatchery tech. It is something that every individual Overlord can now research and it allows Zerg to efficiently drop a Terran, Protoss and Zerg player with making a massive commitment towards researching Ventral Sacs for 200 Minerals and 200 Vespene Gas.
In this Zerg versus Terran game analysis I go over the implications that I've made so far for dropping against Terran. The main one being drops in the Mineral Line with Banelings. With sufficient upgrades you can even one-shot SCV's, which really allow you to get incredibly far ahead.
Besides dropping Mineral Lines with Banelings it is also a viable option to load up Zerglings, Roaches and even Lurkers into Overlords and drop those in their bases. A Lurker or two between all production facilities literally stop the Terran players from ever moving out with a big army. They need to stim up their own ramp in order to get rid of it, which will always be cost efficient for Zerg.
In short, the new Ventral Sacs upgrade means a lot for Zerg. I would be surprised if this does not become an absolute standard across all match-ups, as the commitment is relatively small and the potential results are huge.
