Stellar Assault - Sega 32X - Intro and playthrough in two players [HD 1080p 60fps]
With Sega 32X emulation still being rubbish at the best of time it's time to do a trueplay playthrough / longplay on the real deal. Captured directly from the Japanese release this is Stellar Assault or Shadow Squadron if you live in the USA. A free flying space simulator with an arcade feel, for many Sega fans one of the highlights of the Sega 32X, certainly this and Darxide are must haves for the system if you're a shooter fan. The game features two ships to choose from and both play very differently, this playthrough is with Feather 2 the large gunboat ship in two players one person is the pilot the other the gunner. Feather 2 doesn't get an energy refill after every mission so you have to balance your use out over the course of the campaign. It does however have a stronger gun shot that can destroy capital ship fire, there is also a heavy torpedo attack but as it drains shield and energy we didn't use it, damage it does is also pretty weak. Attacking capital ships weak points is the fastest way to take them down, so aim for the command deck and wing sections. A great game for fans of the genre or arcade style shooters like StarBlade. With only six missions you can easily finish the game in an hour and this is one title you want a six button controller for. Note the Japanese version, uses a different default colour scheme for the enemies to the western version, however you can adjust this in the option menu, the game also runs in quite a small window. A part sequel part remake was released on the Sega Saturn as Stellar Assault SS. The Japanese company Artmic also did the ship design.
