[Stream] 2023 7DRL Let's Plays (2/7)
More 2023 7DRLs! Only three today since they're all good specimens and each took a fair amount of time, but it was fun to explore them: Lurk, Leap, Loot; Boat Journey; and Wizard-Thief-Fighter. (One of the Lurk devs was around in chat as well.)
Today's games:
* 00:02:19 - Lurk, Leap, Loot (https://mcneja.itch.io/lurk-leap-loot): Map out well-guarded large mansions while stealing as much bonus loot as you can, utilizing or paying attention to a good collection of overlapping stealth-related mechanics. As implemented the "leaping" mechanic makes it a little too easy, but I didn't discover that until nearing the end before I won xD. Definitely a well done entry, though (and not their first rodeo/stealth RL). Good mapgen. I later heard from the dev that the ending (the music) was a rarer one you can get with a high enough loot score, despite having been 1 shy of 100, and it was neat :)
* 01:48:32 - Boat Journey (https://gridbugs.itch.io/boat-journey): Steer a boat to the ocean, stopping at land and even exploring underground locations while avoiding beasts and collecting junk to fund the journey, picking up passengers who can lend you special abilities along the way. This one is really well done--resources are tight, but it's very winnable and has a nice atmosphere.
* 03:20:39 - Wizard-Thief-Fighter (https://jmlait.itch.io/wtf): Somewhat confusing at first (living up to its intentional acronym? :P) but it really is a very traditional (and mechanically complete) traditional #roguelike except you're controlling three separate characters instead of one, each on their own journey in their own world and you can switch back and forth when desired (or necessary!). Weird but it works.
