Streets of Rage 4 but it's the unpatched console version.
15Streets of Rage 4 is about to turn 3 years old by the end of April and as an idea to start off 2023, I created a full game playthrough of the game that is the unpatched console version.
What is different about the unpatched console release?
1) Regular enemies AND SoR4 Characters have hitstun grunts, in later releases they only grunt when attacking or dying. Zan his his hitstun grunt mechanic in both unpatched and day 1 patch builds.
2) Axel 4 and Blaze 4 have extra voice samples when performing special moves.
3) No Streets of Rage 3 sound effects for hits, it will play Streets of Rage 2 samples instead.
4) Mr Y has a different laughing voice
5) A minor level design change in the 3rd section of stage 3 by having an extra apple.
6) Mid-boss and boss enemies except a few like Estel do not have voice samples.
7) The dynamic music part can potentially miss the beat leading to rough music.
8) Damage combo bonus is broken as the timer's countdown is extremely short and the bonus a player can earn is very small, this alone can make the game difficult as you can only get an extra life by earning 30,000 points which is genuinely hard to do with a very low earning score bonus mechanic.
This version got some exposure back when the game was out thanks to the Xbox One/Windows Store releases not getting the vital day one patch until a few weeks after release sometime in May 2020.
The earliest build for PC Steam is equivalent to the day 1 patch build that were released for consoles/Windows Store. The easiest way to play the unpatched build of SoR4 today is having a hacked Switch/PS4 or using emulation.
