As fall begins we draw closer and closer to taking the battle to the enemy, but we still have more preparations to make first. We build our first tower so that we get the complete lay of the land and see exactly what we're up against. It doesn't quite reach to the edge of the map, so we have our thief build a Glassworks to get the extra range we need.

Next is all about preparing our defenses for counterattacks. When assaulting enemy strongholds I find it tedious to first try to kill every unit occupying the squares around the stronghold. It's easier to just destroy it and let the remaining enemies charge off to run into my carefully laid out defenses.

To that end we lay down a line of units surrounding our stronghold on all sides. I leave one of each party member in each square to pick up any defeated enemies heading to my stronghold. I build walls as well, but as I explain in my strategy guide, walls on the north and east sides of a stronghold are largely useless, so this is more a vanity project.
