While there is a lack of native AAA games on Linux, there is no lack of great indie games to choose from.
Sundered is one such game.
I always found the term "metroidvania" very clever, and it certainly applies to this game. It has some elements of a platformer, there is plenty of action, there are puzzles, and then there are some special abilities to unlock.
I know some people get turned off by pixelated graphics (I am not one of them), but I can recommend this game to them too, because Sundered's art style is simply beautiful.
The Linux version works perfectly and provides a very smooth gaming experience.
