Super Mario Maker 2 - Custom Course: The Kinda Hot Lava Castle
0This is actually my most popular level on Mario Maker 2, the likes are tied with a later level, but it's also got the most plays out of all 16 levels so far.

[0:00-3:22] Playthrough
- 0:40 The ?-Block houses a 1UP for those who have the foresight to avoid busting it with the boot.
- 0:47 Stomping the boot to knock out the left Piranha Plant grants you a Key that is used later in the level.
- 0:52 Jumping up top to the left here starts a path to a secret with a 1UP and a stash of coins.
- 1:16 The doors are there to enable backtracking if you lose something vital for progression, like the shells or the boot. They're marked with matching block tiles to help show you where each one takes you.
- 1:30 Originally an unintentional skip, but I left it in because it doesn't skip much, so it's a fitting reward. The intended way to proceed is to press down to crumple up while in a Dry Bones Shell so you pass through the Grinder unharmed.
- 1:40 A small bonus area with a bunch of coins. Also works for backtracking in case you somehow lose your shell and get stuck there.
- 2:52 If you got the Key from the Piranha Plant near the start of the level, you can unlock the door to a small bonus room loaded with coins and a 1UP.
As with pretty much any other level so far, this level had its start from one thing. I just wanted to explore the Dry Bones Shell this time.
Fun fact: Riding the Shell on lava/poison will keep point combos running as long as you don't touch a platform, so you could farm points and 1UPs at the second Dry Bones Shell pipe, were there any reason to. Oddly, the same effect doesn't work with the regular water you get in the Forest day theme.
