This is hard because I'm an expert in speedrunning the game so of course I'm biased. As a game itself, it still holds up very well more than 20 years later. This is thanks in part to well-designed levels that are full of action and a nice mix when it comes to the objectives. Not everything is designed to be eliminate this or that. The levels aren't always linear, either, which is a nice touch. The game also finds the right balance by upping the difficulty as the game goes along and rarely gets into unfair or brutal territory. The story is more of a sketch that is built around some great levels and does seem a bit disjointed. The voice acting is also hit-or-miss with Chacon as Gabe delivering the only real impression. Developer Eidetic bounced back nicely after the disastrous Bubsy 3D and proved they had some chops. They used Tomb Raider as their initial model, but found plenty of inspiration from other action shooters and delivered a real winner. One of the most underrated titles for the PlayStation.
